Stewartville School District 1:1 Technology Options

Below are two options for Stewartville Schools’ 1:1 Technology Program:

Using a school-owned device & paying the user fees applicable or going BYOD (Bring-Your-Own-Device)

Option 1:

Use of a district school-owned device:   iPads (gr 3-5) and HP Laptops (gr 6-12)

If you, as a parent of a child going into grades 6-12, choose to stay in the current 1:1 program and/or you will have a child attending Bear Cave Intermediate; entering grades 3-5; the yearly cost of the device provided to your child is noted below.  This device is the property of the School District and will be turned in prior to the end of each school year. The District will be responsible for the repair of these devices when damage occurs and you, the parent, will be billed for the repair costs according to the district technology insurance plan.  The insurance coverage is mandatory and the fee is Included in the 1:1 program fee.

For 3rd and 4th Grade

3rd and 4th graders will not be taking their iPad home. The iPad will remain in the classroom.

The 3rd and 4th Grade fee is $20 for the mandatory insurance coverage.

For Grades 5-12

The yearly cost for the district’s 1:1 program is based on your current economic lunch status.

Regular lunch status; the cost is $70.00    Reduced lunch; the cost is $45.00

Free lunch status; the cost is $20.00   (mandatory insurance fee)

You may verify your lunch status by going into your parent portal: Skyward Family Access Account > Food Service tab

Option 2:

BYOD Program   Bring Your Own Device option for Grades 6-12

Students currently in the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) program and are remaining in the BYOD program with the same device we have on record; do not need to do anything as we start the new school year. If there is a change in their device from last year we will have them bring it to the tech department when they return to school so we can update our records and can put the BYOD wireless on their new machine.

If your child is using a school-owned device and will now Opt-Out of the 1:1 program and go with the BYOD program by bringing a device from home; please email Cathy to let her know so we can update our inventory.   This information is important to know in advance because it allows us to use our school devices for other students’ needs.  A child new to the BYOD program will need an Opt-Out form completed and the technology department will need to put the district BYOD wireless network on their device upon their return to school.   Please email Cathy to inform her that your child will be changing to the BYOD program and she will email you the Opt-Out form.
