411 EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

I. PURPOSE

The purpose of this policy is to assure employees they will receive careful consideration and an offer of assistance to help resolve personal difficulties that may adversely affect their job performance. This assistance will be given in an effective and confidential manner.

II. The School District recognizes that, at times, employees or their family members may experience personal difficulties that can adversely affect their job performance. In most instances, normal supervisor assistance will serve as motivation or guidance by which such problems can be resolved. As a result, the employee’s job performance will return to an acceptable standard. In some cases, however, neither the efforts of the employee or the supervisor have the desired effect in resolving the employee’s problem. Unsatisfactory performance may persist, either constantly or intermittently.

III. In the interest of providing a supportive work environment for employees, and consideration of family members, the School District is providing an Employee Assistance Program. This service will provide referral and financial support to employees and their families in pursuing professional intervention for problems that affect their personal lives or job performance.
