Early Childhood Screening is required for entrance into Minnesota’s public schools. Early Childhood Screening is a free and simple check of how children are doing between the ages of 3 to 5 years. It identifies, at an early stage, possible learning or health concerns so that children can get needed help prior to starting school. 
The screening will provide parents a better understanding of their child’s development through checking each child’s height, weight, hearing, vision, motor skills, and speech development.
What does this screening include?
  • Vision and hearing check
  • Growth evaluation
  • Immunization review
  • Developmental screening using a Minnesota state approved standardized tool
  • Family health and development review
  • Information and resources for your child
The screening offers a snapshot of your child’s health and development. It may indicate the need for further health or developmental assessments. This allows time for early intervention before the start of kindergarten.

Screenings take place at the Central Education Center located at 301 2nd Street SW Stewartville. Please check-in at the front office, with your drivers license ready, and then you will be taken up to the 4th floor to complete the screening.
