Early Childhood Screening is required for entrance into Minnesota’s public schools. Early Childhood Screening is a free and simple check of how children are doing between the ages of 3 to 5 years. It identifies, at an early stage, possible learning or health concerns so that children can get needed help prior to starting school.
The screening will provide parents a better understanding of their child’s development through checking each child’s height, weight, hearing, vision, motor skills, and speech development.
What does this screening include?
  • Vision and hearing check
  • Growth evaluation
  • Immunization review
  • Developmental screening using a Minnesota state approved standardized tool
  • Family health and development review
  • Information and resources for your child
The screening offers a snapshot of your child’s health and development. It may indicate the need for further health or developmental assessments. This allows time for early intervention before the start of kindergarten.
