The Stewartville School Theater Proudly Presents...
Hello, Dolly! is coming to the stage of Stewartville’s Performing Arts Center this November! Presented by Stewartville Schools, the musical follows the story of Dolly Gallagher Levi (widowed socialite, turned matchmaker). Her latest clients seeking assistance are the cantankerous "half-a-millionaire" Horace Vandergelder and a young artist named Ambrose, who is in love with Horace's niece, Ermengarde. Dolly's scheming soon involves Horace's employees as well as a New York hatmaker, as she tries to cover up her own secret romantic designs. In doing so she persuades his niece, his niece's intended, and Horace's two clerks to travel to New York City. Fun, laughter, great songs and spectacular dance numbers will fill the stage!
Hello, Dolly! was first produced on Broadway in 1964, winning a record-tying Tony Awards, including Best Musical, a record held for 37 years.
The show has become one of the most enduring musical theatre hits, with four Broadway revivals and international success. It was also made into the 1969 film Hello Dolly! which featured Barbara Streisand as Dolly. Bette Midler currently brings Dolly to life on Broadway. You won’t want to miss the opportunity to see which Stewartville young lady fills the shoes of Carol Channing, Streisand and Midler along with the rest of the fantastic cast!
Performance dates and times are Friday and Saturday, November 16 & 17 at 7p and Sunday November 18 at 2p. Tickets will be available in early November on www.stewartvilletickets.com or at the door before each performance.
